Rapper Trina and NBA player Kenyon Martin were recently involved in a car accident in Belize. According to reports, the accident occurred while the pair were traveling with a police motorcade in an SUV, when a minivan struck the side of the vehicle. Fortunately the two both escaped serious injury.
The first Philly Summer Jam festival takes place July 26 and will aim to promote the “stop the violence” campaign, while also promoting Philly’s Hip-Hop culture. “It’s a great example of how there are young men in Philadelphia who are appreciating and celebrating life, not taking it away,” business owner Stevie G said.

Hip-Hop star Nas will join members of MoveOn.org and ColorOfChange.org, demanding that FOX News ends its pattern of racist attacks against African-Americans, including presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. The protest is scheduled for 2pm today outside FOX headquarters in Manhattan.
DJ K-Swift passed away this morning after being involved in a swimming pool accident in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. K-Swift, born Khia Edgerton, was just 28-years-old and was a ground breaking DJ in the Baltimore area. Further details on the young DJ’s death are expected to be released shortly.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recently honored Hip-Hop by adding original Hip-Hop memorabilia of the 80’s to their collection. Reminding visitors of the game’s origin, there are a variety of Africa Bambaataa and DJ Kool Herc flyers from the late 70’s, as well as Flava Flav’s classic Adidas sneakers and Slick Rick’s legendary eye patch.
South Bronx native and legendary emcee KRS-One has publicly endorsed Hip-Hop historian Kevin Powell in his run for the House seat in New York’s 10th Congressional District. “Vote for Kevin Powell. Local politics is where voting really counts… Vote for a new congressman, one that comes to a [Hip-Hop] gathering,” KRS said to fans.
